About the Church and Its History

Boracay Grace Baptist Church (BGBC) was founded in 2001 as an independent Baptist congregation on Boracay Island. It was “pioneered… by God’s grace” through the leadership of Pastor Angelo, who felt called to start a faith community on this famous tourist island. From humble beginnings, BGBC has grown into a welcoming family of believers.

The church’s mission has always been to fulfill Christ’s Great Commission in Matthew 28:19–20 – “Go and make disciples of all nations” – and by God’s grace they have done just that.

Over the years, BGBC has marked important milestones, including establishing a permanent ministry center on the island and planting new churches in neighboring communities. Today it is known as a church filled with warmth and God’s love – one member even described it as “a home aside from my home… my home church” on Boracay.

Programs

BGBC is an active church with ministries that reach both locals and visitors.

Evangelism and Church Planting:

The church has a heart for missions. In fact, BGBC has helped establish new congregations on three remote islands, and they continue working to reach three more nearby islands in the Caluya group. This means they don’t only minister on Boracay – they’re helping spread the gospel to smaller, isolated communities that have little evangelical presence.

Community Outreach:

Compassion is a big part of BGBC’s ministry. The church runs a weekly feeding program for children and families in need – including outreach to the local Ati indigenous community in Boracay. During these feedings, volunteers share Bible stories, play games, and provide meals to kids who might otherwise go hungry. Along with food, they often distribute rice, fish, and other necessities to bless the community. BGBC also holds an annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) for kids, complete with fun lessons, songs, and crafts to teach God’s Word during school holidays. The church even engages youth through sports – for example, organizing a “Bulilit” (children’s) basketball training ministry to mentor kids through athletics and faith. All these efforts have made a positive impact on Boracay, earning the church a reputation for genuine care and service.

Discipleship and Training:

Beyond outreach, BGBC invests in spiritual growth. They host regular Bible studies and small group fellowships to help members grow in Christ. Remarkably, Boracay Grace Baptist has also partnered with international ministries to train other church leaders. Three times a year, the church hosts modular pastoral training courses for ministers from various islands. This partnership – in cooperation with groups like The Expositor’s Academy and The Master’s Academy International – means that BGBC’s facilities become a classroom for equipping pastors in sound doctrine. The enthusiasm for these trainings is high, with many traveling long hours by bus, boat, and motorbike to attend. BGBC considers it an honor to strengthen other churches in this way.

Media and Broadcast Ministry:

To reach even more people with the Gospel, BGBC maintains a media presence. Pastor Angelo Panganiban hosts a local radio program called “Saved by Grace” on Boracay’s 106.1 FM station. Through this weekly broadcast, he shares biblical teaching and encouragement over the airwaves – truly a “beach radio” ministry! Many locals tune in and even tourists catch the program, which combines uplifting Christian music and Pastor Angelo’s heartfelt preaching. This radio outreach has become an extension of the church’s pulpit, touching lives beyond those who attend services in person.

Finally, it’s worth noting that BGBC has touched countless individual lives over two decades of ministry. From seeing families strengthened, to youth coming to know Christ, to serving the poor and training leaders – these are the true accomplishments that matter. All glory goes to God for what has been done through this little church with a big heart.
