TEAM AND MEMBERS

One thing you’ll notice at BGBC is the strong sense of family in Christ. The church is not just about one pastor – it’s made up of many dedicated members working together, each using their gifts.

Pastoral Team: Of course, Pastor Angelo Panganiban leads the flock as the senior pastor (more about him below), often accompanied by his wife in ministry. They provide spiritual guidance and pastoral care. Alongside Pastor Angelo, BGBC likely has deacons or church elders who help oversee ministries, though much of the leadership is voluntary given the close-knit size of the church.

Ministry Volunteers: BGBC is blessed with active members who step up to serve. Many are young professionals or students who have a heart for God. For example, Ma. Fatima Abello – a college student and church member – is part of the worship music team and also helps teach children in Sunday School. She joyfully uses her talents in music and education to serve the Lord. Another member, Niño Sacapaño, works full-time at the local tourism office but still volunteers in his free time as part of the church’s music ministry and even assists with managing BGBC’s Facebook page and social media outreach. These are just two examples among many. There are also those who lead the youth fellowship, those who organize the feeding programs, a choir and music team, ushers and greeters, and prayer warriors interceding for the church – all of them are essential members of the team.

Everyone at BGBC, from the oldest to the youngest, is considered part of the ministry. The church loves to encourage members to discover their spiritual gifts and get involved. Whether it’s setting up chairs before service, cooking a meal for a church lunch, or sharing a testimony, people here serve with joy. The atmosphere is one of mentorship and mutual support: older Christians guide the younger, and new believers find friends who help them grow.

In short, BGBC’s “team” is its congregation – a community of believers who love the Lord and each other like family. When you come, you’ll be welcomed as part of the family too!

MEET THE PASTOR

Pastor Angelo Tajanlangit Panganiban is the senior pastor of Boracay Grace Baptist Church, and his life is a testimony of God’s calling. Pastor Angelo is actually a native of Tigbauan, Iloilo (on the Panay mainland). As a young man, he felt led to train for ministry, and he graduated from Doane Baptist Seminary in 2004 – a well-respected Bible college in Iloilo known for producing dedicated church leaders. Rather than pursuing a comfortable career in a big city, he followed God’s voice to the little island of Boracay. Sensing that the growing tourist island also needed a strong Gospel witness, he moved his family there and helped establish BGBC back in 2001. He has been faithfully pastoring the church ever since, pouring out his life for the people of Boracay.

Pastor Angelo is a humble, soft-spoken man with a warm smile – quick to make newcomers feel at ease. He preaches straight from the Bible with both sincerity and conviction. Having grown up in the province, he easily connects with locals in their dialect, yet he’s also comfortable ministering in English to the international visitors who drop by. His heart for missions is evident: under his leadership the church not only cares for its own members but also starts new ministries in other islands. He often quotes Matthew 28:19–20, reminding every one of our mandate to “make disciples of all nations.”

On a personal note, Pastor Angelo is a family man. He and his wife have raised three children (two sons and a daughter) while serving in Boracay. In fact, both of Pastor Angelo’s sons followed in his footsteps – they graduated from Doane Baptist Seminary as well and are now serving as pastors in their own God-given ministries elsewhere. It brings him great joy to see his children walking with the Lord and leading churches too. Despite his many responsibilities, Pastor Angelo remains approachable. Church members know they can call on him anytime for prayer or counsel, and he tirelessly visits the sick, leads Bible studies, and mentors young leaders.

Beyond the local church, Pastor Angelo has a passion to reach the wider community. As mentioned, he hosts the “Saved by Grace” radio program every week, broadcasting uplifting Christian messages across the island’s airwaves. It’s not uncommon for someone in town to recognize his voice from the radio and stop to thank him for the encouraging messages. Through over two decades of ministry, he has seen Boracay transform (both physically with tourism and spiritually with God’s work), yet his commitment remains steadfast. He often says that all credit belongs to the Lord – BGBC exists and thrives “by God’s grace”, just as its name declares. If you sit down with him, Pastor Angelo will happily share stories of God’s faithfulness: how the church survived challenges (like building relocations and even a temporary eviction scare years ago), how God provided a new building in His perfect timing, and how lives have been changed by Christ. His story is really BGBC’s story – one of faith, perseverance, and abundant grace.

When you visit BGBC, be sure to say hello to Pastor Angelo. He would love to meet you, pray with you, or just get to know you over a cup of coffee after the service. His warmth and genuine care truly reflect the love of Jesus. Under his shepherding, many have found not only a pastor but also a trusted friend and spiritual father.
